Yesterday I was in a St. Catharine's hardware story having a key cut and walked back to the front cash to pay for my purchase.
Walking through a section called "Pre-Xmas Decoration Clearance", (I suppose to make way for the new stock soon to arrive), I could not believe my eyes!
Here was this little statue of Saint Nick carrying a tree for $34.99, marked down to only two dollars!
I told him he was coming home to plant that tree in our new garden and to keep our new Bes tree company.
Explaining his pending home to the cashier, she became very excited and asked if I could give another Garden Creature a new home.
She warned me to be very careful because it was made with cement and weighed about 70 pounds. Early one morning at opening it had been found at their front door, probably left as a prank.
Now very curious, I followed her directions to go throuigh their parking lot out past their cardboard dumpsters and to look on a big boulder where it had been placed by one of their employees.
I died laughuing when I saw it, knew exactly where he would go .... primarily to make our daughter Ali, 15, and friends die with laughter.
So starting last night around supper time ... the Queen Elizabeth Way in Niagara had a new Home (Gnome) Guard, as seen in the next post down .....
Our "20 Year Project". We're looking forward to building our brand new garden, year by year, from almost scratch. Apart from a few very small trees, our newly acquired tract is currently only a bare stretch of grass. So starting July 23rd, 2007 when we take possession it's "on with the show" ..... and please come back often and watch us grow!
