Bruce was visiting from Saudi Arabia and wanted to give us a housewarming gift.
When he heard about my plans to plant three locust trees across the back of the property he offered to give us four for each member of his family.
So here they are!
Neat thing ... I had located these the day before at The Home Depot on Centennial Parkway in Stoney Creek. They were on sale at an amazing price, but how to get them home. Get this ... they rent an extra long panel truck for 90 minutes for $19.95! (We moved them in an hour ... they were hanging out the back with a red flag.)
So I have "Ellie", "Bruce", "Spencer" & "Paige" tied together in the side yard to maintain them in an upright position for a week, (yes, most things are being named in the garden ... because I'm a wee bit off the wall I guess).
Also good news ... if I get tired of, (read break down), digging, they rent gas power augers at a very reasonable price, for as short a period as 4 hours. I do want the hand effort though, since gardening is one of my forms of exercise ... so hopefully I will hand dig all four wholes in the next couple of weeks.
This morning I E-mailed "Ontario 1 Call" ... they will advise in a week if it is OK to go ahead with my intended holes ... there are hydro, gas, water and other lines buried just beneath the surface somewhere on our property.
Our "20 Year Project". We're looking forward to building our brand new garden, year by year, from almost scratch. Apart from a few very small trees, our newly acquired tract is currently only a bare stretch of grass. So starting July 23rd, 2007 when we take possession it's "on with the show" ..... and please come back often and watch us grow!
